Since it was opened in 1967, the School has established a strong reputation for high academic standards, incorporating the timeless values of good manners, discipline, teamwork, collaboration, competition and commitment to the School.
We seek to provide a stimulating environment, in which individuals will grow in confidence, skill, knowledge and compassion and the School’s ethos is shaped by the people who teach and study here. Jeddah Prep and Grammar School seeks to attract a broad range of pupils with diverse talents and an appetite for education. When they arrive, our pupils bring much of the character of our School through the gates with them.
Many of the qualities which attract parents to Jeddah Prep and Grammar School also draw men and women of great dedication and ability to teach here. Staff are encouraged to explore enthusiasms in and out of the classroom, and to develop their own teaching styles within a framework of shared principles: that learning matters, that all members of the community deserve to be treated with care and respect and that every lesson or activity is a fresh opportunity to awake interest and develop understanding.
As an overseas school we follow the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE), Primary Programme, then a combined programme of study (National Curriculum for England and Cambridge Secondary Programme) up to the age of 14. From there, an International GCSE programme is undertaken. Sixth Form Students can be offered the opportunity to pursue the IPQ, BTEC Diploma, AS Levels, A Levels within the School after 16. We are highly conscious of the need to ensure that our students are well prepared for eventual integration into the education systems and societies to which they will be returning. We have a great deal of experience assisting students in their continuing education to various locations throughout the world.

Nursery (FS1) and Reception (FS2) 7.40am – 12.50pm
Only until half-term of Term 1. After that school ends at 2.30pm for Reception Class.
Years 1 to 13 7.40am – 2.30pm
On certain days these times may be subject to change based on timetable commitments/changes. Children must arrive for school and be collected at the end of the day punctually. The school takes responsibility for children 10 minutes before the start of school and 15 minutes after the end of the school day only.
Foundation 1, Foundation 2, Year 1 and Year 2 children should be escorted to and from their classroom at the appropriate times.
Parents are asked NOT to enter the Prep School building before the end of School.
The Enrichment Programme is available to pupils from Year 1 and upwards from the end of the school day 2.30pm – 3.30pm.
Appointments with the Headmaster are made through the PA to the Headmaster. He will be very pleased to meet with you at a convenient time.
We do, however, encourage our staff to be proactive in the matter of contact with parents, so appointments are regularly made directly between teaching staff and parents and this should be your first line of communication.
The normal accepted procedure for children leaving the School is that parents will give the Registrar formal notice in writing at least 6 weeks before the leave date. Any requests e.g. academic, pastoral, etc. from a prospective institution will be dealt with directly by the School.
Pupils must have reached the entry age below, before 31st August.

All parents are asked to reinforce the need for pupils to comply with standards. Persistent ‘offenders’ will be referred to the Head of Prep or Head of Grammar. All pupils will be expected to wear full school uniform without any variations
Parental support in getting children to comply with the uniform code is a prerequisite to having children entering and remaining within the School. Pupils will be excluded from School to correct their uniform when necessary.
Footwear Please note that appropriate, sensible footwear should be worn with school uniforms, i.e. black shoes with plain white or navy blue socks. Casual shoes are not acceptable, i.e. training shoes, canvas shoes etc. Socks must be clearly visible above the sides of the shoe. Parents are advised to regularly visit the schools website for the most up to date version of the school uniform and other related information.
The school promotes a healthy eating practice, lunch boxes should contain a sandwich, fruits or vegetables daily.
Sweets, chocolates, fizzy drinks, mini-cakes, biscuits and crisps are not permitted.
Pupils from Year 3 and above can use the School Canteen which serves hot food as well as healthy snacks.
Please note that nuts / nut products are not allowed in school as some children may have serious nut allergies which are detrimental to their health.
Girls are not permitted to wear make-up at school. Boys’ hair, in both style and length, must meet the School’s requirements. Hair over the collar or an emphasis on extremes of fashion will not be acceptable. Girls with medium/long hair are required to tie their hair back in a secure fashion during School hours.
Girls in Grammar School are not permitted to have their hair loose. Headbands should be white or light blue, simple and discrete.
Children are not allowed to wear jewellery in School. However, girls may wear 1 pair of plain studs (no stones), 1 per ear. No other jewellery should be brought to school. Boys are not allowed to wear earrings in school.
Watches are permitted.
A PE kit consisting of a white polo shirt/House T-shirt, white shorts, socks, and trainers should be sent to school on PE days. Navy blue shorts may be worn by girls in Grammar School if preferred.
All children swim on a regular basis. A towel, appropriate footwear, and a proper swimming costume must be sent on those days. Both boys and girls require a swimming cap in their House colour. These can be purchased from the School Uniform Shop.
Children should not bring jewellery or any items of value to school. A cash limit of SAR 25 is viewed as sensible. The School accepts no responsibility for the loss of any of the children’s personal belongings.
Mobile phones are allowed to School but must be switched off at all times. These may only be switched on at the end of the School day
The School employs a full-time nurse. The nurse’s duties include health inspections, maintenance of medical records and treatment of minor ailments, injuries and first aid response to any emergencies.
During the course of a School day your child may attend the nurse’s clinic, with a minor illness which can be treated with “over the counter” medications. The medications available in school are Paracetamol (Panadol, Tylenol, Fevadol, and Tempra) Ibuprofen (Brufen, Junifen). Strepsils for sore throats, an Antacid (Rennie) for stomach upsets and Fenistil Gel for insect bites.
These medications are only dispensed with the permission of the parents.
If you decide not to give your consent, you will be contacted for guidance if your child becomes unwell.

The nurse is also available to act in an advisory capacity; both children and parents are welcome to consult with her during working hours.

You will be asked to complete a Medical History Form prior to admission giving details of your child’s medical history. This form includes consent for medication and emergency treatment.
PLEASE NOTE: If any information is discovered to have been withheld that is considered by Staff and the School Nurse to have been known at time of Registration, then the School retains the right to request Parents to seek alternative education to JPGS.
We are excited to always offer an enrichment programme after school from 2.35pm – 3.30pm, which we hope will effectively develop and sustain a high-quality after-school learning programme.
All pupils from Year 1 – 13 are encouraged and expected to join at least one activity.
The enrichment programme is a great opportunity to stimulate pupils to explore new horizons, expand creativity, experience different cultures, broaden their base of knowledge, and increase their repertoire of learned skills. Pupils can participate in activities that include: Sports, Drama, Dance, Music, Art, Recreational and Academic programmes.
We are always keen to have parental support where possible; so parents are encouraged to contact the school if they are interested in helping with any activity.
Once your child has made his/her choice of activity/activities, they are expected to commit to the activity until the end. There will be registers to monitor their attendance as well.
There are provisions made for children who join part way through the term.
